Foiled Attack Was Fatah Kidnap Attempt

by Hillel Fendel

Published:
4/01/08, 5:40 PM

(IsraelNN.com) Just hours after Israel was forced to remove a military anti-terror checkpoint in the area, a Fatah terrorist cell nearly succeeded in kidnapping an Israeli youth - or so Fatah claims.

It was originally thought that a Palestinian terrorist at the Shilo Junction tried to stab 17-year-old Hillel Maeir of Beit El.  The terrorist lifted his arm to stab Hillel, was shot by a bystander, then tried to pull out another knife, and was then shot again - this time to death.

The group's chairman, Attorney Reuven Ladiansky, sent a letter to Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski and to Temple Institute Director Yehuda Glick, urging them to cancel the planned event or face legal action. The City of David (Ir David) organization has purchased several properties in Silwan, also known as Shiloach due to the Temple-era spring located in the valley. In addition to the vast archeological and tourist sites currently located there, excavations are ongoing – though they are often disrupted by groups of Arabs and left-wing Jews who have claimed that they are disturbing the lives of local Arabs.

The conference was attended by the Orthodox Union’s Lev Yehudi and ten other religious Zionist outreach organizations. The organizations declared their mission: “The transformation of the entire people of Israel by connecting them to our Father in Heaven in a more meaningful way. The manifestation of that connection will result in a deeper appreciation of the land of Israel, a closer sense of tradition, faith in our history and our religious values and an intense love and respect for Jews throughout the world.”

Analysis: MK Ahmed Tibi – Profile of a Brilliant Enemy

by Gil Ronen

1 Nissan 5768
April 6, '08

(IsraelNN.com) MK Aryeh Eldad calls him an enemy. Other MKs call him a traitor. Dr. Ahmed Tibi is currently the most prominent figure among the political leadership of the Arab population within pre-1967 Israel, and may well be one of the key figures in the Arab world's war against the Jewish state. He knows Israel as well as, if not better than, most Jewish Israelis do, and is an expert on the strengths and weaknesses of its society and culture. He is a favorite interviewee among Israel's mainstream media channels, despite his open support for terrorists and repeated incitement to violence.
